GIVING TUESDAY

A global movement celebrating generosity and giving

Read on to find out why your support is not only most appreciated but so crucially needed!

SARA’S STORY

Sara is a Y10 and a fantastic human being. When she was younger her parents divorced and things have remained hard and tense in their relationships ever since.

Sara has always worried about her worth and value due to comments made by her parents, her peers and because of society’s fashion standards. Over lockdown Sara had way too much time to think, separated from friends and structure she started self-harming and contemplated ending her life on several occasions. She felt cut off, worthless and alone. She didn't know where to turn.

Through our SVST mentoring, we were able to offer Sara support; support she dearly needed and would have been waiting a long time for from other providers.

Each week, in school, Sara met with one of our staff who listened to her, advocated for her, valued and edified her, in Jesus’ name. Walking that long road alongside her, until Sara felt stronger and able to go it alone.

Sara has now ventured into this new academic year feeling more confident in who she is and equipped to face challenges. She also knows she has somewhere to turn if needed as well as somewhere she can direct her peers.
